CAPITAL SEA

located 375 miles southwest of Manila ,Capiz is one of the five provinces of Panay Island in the Western Visayas, Roxas City- the seat of government and economic center. The city was named in honor of Manuel Roxas, the first president of the Philippine Republic, who was born here, Rolling hills and mountain ranges make up the province's topography. The climate is wet from May to October, and dry from November to April.


The economy is based mainly on agriculture,. the principal crops being rice, corn, coconut, vegetables and sugarcane. Its rich,offshore fishing grounds are supplemented by 20,000 hectares of agriculture farms for raising prawns and oysters for the international and local market. Roxas City has the largest oyster processing plant in the country. These have earned for Capiz the tittle of "seafood capital" of the Philippines.
